Everton is reportedly exploring a free transfer for former Galatasaray striker Mauro Icardi, who remains without a club after leaving the Turkish giants this summer.

The veteran Argentine forward boasts an impressive record, having scored 250 goals in 478 appearances for various top clubs. Despite his experience, Icardi has yet to secure a new team since parting ways with Galatasaray.

According to TEAMtalk, although discussions are still in the early stages, the 33-year-old forward is open to joining Everton. This interest follows a chaotic Deadline Day for the club, where they missed out on a move for Folarin Balogun from Monaco, leaving them short on striking options.

Key points include:

• David Moyes has expressed interest in exploring the free agent market.
• Currently, Thierno Barry is the primary forward, raising concerns about squad depth.
• Icardi, while not at his peak, could serve as a valuable squad player, providing temporary relief until January's transfer window.

Despite a quiet summer transfer period, Everton has started the Premier League season positively, with one win and two draws from their first three matches, including a thrilling 2-2 draw against Manchester United.
