Everton is on the verge of finalizing a deal with Chelsea for Tyrique George, the talented winger who impressed during his loan spell last season. The 20-year-old spent the latter half of the last season on Merseyside, making 11 appearances and starting once. During his time, he caught the eye of manager David Moyes, who praised him as an "excellent boy" with an "excellent work-rate."

The proposed deal includes an upfront fee with add-ons, having previously been set at £25m with an option to buy.

As negotiations progress for George, Everton is also wrapping up a £16m transfer for Hayden Hackney, the midfielder from Middlesbrough. Additionally, attacking midfielder Merlin Rohl is expected to make his loan move from SC Freiburg permanent after a successful stint.

On the other hand, Idrissa Gana Gueye and Seamus Coleman have left the club following the expiration of their contracts.

George, a product of Chelsea's youth academy, has been available for transfer for the past year. He engaged in talks with RB Leipzig last summer, and a potential £22m move to Fulham fell through on transfer deadline day in September 2025.

Chelsea is currently undergoing a squad rebuild under new manager Xabi Alonso. The club has already secured the signing of Marco Palestra from Atalanta and remains interested in players like Maxence Lacroix from Crystal Palace and Pep Chavarria from Rayo Vallecano.

Following a disappointing 10th place finish in the Premier League, Chelsea aims to reduce their squad size while navigating financial constraints due to a Uefa settlement agreement. Player sales are anticipated, with clubs like Real Madrid eyeing Enzo Fernandez and Como and Inter Milan showing interest in Trevoh Chalobah. The futures of several other players, including Benoit Badiashile and Liam Delap, also remain uncertain.
