Ulster captain Iain Henderson emphasized the need for their "full cohort" to compete effectively in both the European Challenge Cup and the United Rugby Championship. With a European semi-final against Exeter Chiefs scheduled for Saturday at the Affidea Stadium, Henderson highlighted the importance of having a complete squad as they also prepare for crucial URC matches against top contenders Stormers and Glasgow Warriors.

The team recently faced challenges due to injuries, resulting in a youthful lineup during a 41-14 defeat by Munster. Despite these setbacks, Henderson remains optimistic about their chances, especially with key players like Nick Timoney, Tom O'Toole, James Hume, Bryn Ward, and Jude Postlethwaite returning to full training. He hopes these reinforcements can help end Ulster’s 20-year trophy drought in either or both competitions.

Henderson stated, "In comparison to last year, we've had a more favourable injury run. We do need a full cohort with the games we have ahead to compete on both fronts." He expressed excitement over the upcoming knockout match, calling it incredibly important.

Reflecting on his tenure with Ulster since 2012, Henderson described the pursuit of silverware as occasionally frustrating but not a burden. He believes that the current young players possess the determination to succeed, stating, "These young lads have the bit between their teeth and want to see the club do well."

He acknowledged the unique pressures of knockout rugby, emphasizing the need for focus and emotional control as they aim for a spot in the final in Bilbao this May.
