Great Britain kicked off the European Aquatics Championships in Paris with a triumphant display, securing three medals on the opening day.

The highlight of the day came from the men's and women's 4x200m freestyle relay teams, both clinching gold medals. The men's team, consisting of James Guy, Duncan Scott, Matt Richards, and Jack McMillan, finished first with a time of 7:01.52, outperforming France (silver) and Germany (bronze).

In the women's event, the quartet of Freya Anderson, Leah Schlosshan, Abbie Wood, and Freya Colbert claimed gold with a time of 7:45.93, leaving Hungary in second at 7:49.09, and Neutral Athletes B in third at 7:49.13.

In individual events, Max Litchfield earned a bronze in the men's 400m individual medley, finishing in 4:11.58. Ilya Borodin of Russia set a championship record with a time of 4:08.17, while Italy's Alberto Razzetti took silver with 4:10.40.

Additionally, Jack Kelly made headlines by breaking the Irish 100m breaststroke record twice, first in the heats with 59.27 and then in the semi-final with 58.90. He finished second in the semi-final behind Italy's Nicolo Martinenghi at 58.67.

Kelly expressed his excitement, stating, "To go under 59 has always been a dream of mine... it's been a really cool environment."

Adam Ramsay-Peaty also impressed in the semi-finals, winning with 58.94, alongside teammate Filip Nowacki, who set a Jersey record at 59.03. The final for the 100m breaststroke is scheduled for Tuesday at 17:48 BST.

Despite a personal best, Lottie Cullen from Belfast could not advance to the 200m backstroke final, finishing sixth in her semi-final with 2:12.22.
