After beginning the third day with optimism, England faltered from their overnight score of 223-2, collapsing to 354 all out, handing New Zealand an 84-run lead. A fiery spell from Jofra Archer provided a glimmer of hope by dismissing openers Tom Latham (4) and Devon Conway (5). However, Rachin Ravindra's vital 60 not out and Daryl Mitchell's unbeaten 26 helped the Black Caps finish the day at 120-3.
