Former England captain Michael Vaughan has expressed his discontent regarding a 43% ticket price increase for the upcoming men's Ashes Test at Edgbaston. Vaughan labeled the rise as "really poor" after it was announced that tickets in the Hollies Stand, which accommodates nearly 6,000 spectators, will cost £165, up from £115 in 2023.

In addition, members can acquire tickets for £92, while the cheapest adult tickets for the initial three days are set at £115, each accompanied by a £2.50 booking fee. Vaughan took to social media to voice his concerns, emphasizing the negative implications of such price hikes.

The 2023 series concluded in a 2-2 draw, with Australia winning the first two Tests at Edgbaston and Lord's. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) noted that every day of the series sold out in advance, attracting a total attendance exceeding 545,000.

Despite the popularity of the Ashes, tickets for the next week's third Test against Pakistan at Edgbaston, priced between £57.50 and £87.50, have not completely sold out, partly due to the stadium's reduced capacity from ongoing hotel construction.

The ticket ballot for the 2027 Ashes has recently opened, with prices also higher at Lord's and the Oval, featuring the best tickets at £190 and £185 respectively.

England, who faced a 4-1 defeat in Australia last winter, will start their campaign to reclaim the Ashes at Trent Bridge in Nottingham on 18 June. The second Test at Lord's begins on 30 June, followed by the third at Edgbaston on 8 July. The Utilita Bowl in Southampton will host the fourth Test starting on 21 July, with the series finale at the Kia Oval on 29 July.
