Following Argentina's 2-1 semi-final victory over Thomas Tuchel’s side, fans flooded the streets around the iconic Obelisk on the Plaza de la Republica. The celebratory atmosphere included fireworks throughout the night, prompting England's management to distribute earplugs to players and staff to aid sleep amidst the commotion. Additionally, steel fencing was erected around their original hotel as a precautionary measure.

As England prepares for their upcoming match against the Pumas in Santiago del Estero on Saturday, they will return to Buenos Aires just 24 hours later. To mitigate any logistical complications in the event of an Argentina win against Spain, the team has opted for a new hotel located near the airport ahead of their journey back home on Monday.

Head coach Borthwick commented on the situation, stating, "I wouldn’t suggest that everybody got a great night’s sleep last night – there were still fireworks going off at 4am this morning."
