Emily Scarratt, England's record points-scorer, has officially joined the Red Roses coaching team on a permanent basis, marking a significant step in her post-playing career. At 36 years old, Scarratt initially took on an interim coaching role as the lead attack and backs coach during this year's Women's Six Nations, where England secured their eighth consecutive title in May.

After the tournament, Scarratt returned to her previous position as assistant coach at Premiership Women's Rugby (PWR) side Loughborough Lightning, but she has now decided to leave that role to fully commit to the Red Roses.

Reflecting on her experience, Scarratt stated, "The Six Nations was challenging but hugely rewarding in equal measure. Stepping into a coaching role in the same setting was a new experience and, at times, slightly unnerving."

She expressed pride in being part of a team with a strong ambition to grow and develop:

On her departure from Loughborough after eight years, Scarratt thanked her colleagues:

I've been surrounded by incredible people who have challenged and supported me in every way possible. I'll always look back on my time with immense gratitude.

John Mitchell, the head coach, praised Scarratt's contributions, noting her significant impact during the Six Nations. Scarratt's coaching prowess has already shown results, as the Red Roses scored 27 more points in 2026 than in the previous year's tournament.
