Elgin City has suspended first-team manager Allan Hale "with immediate effect, pending an ongoing investigation." The Scottish League 2 club stated on their website that they "will make no further comment until the investigation has concluded."

This announcement follows a disappointing end to the season for Elgin, who finished sixth in Scotland's fourth tier after failing to secure a win in their last five matches, including a 1-0 home defeat against fifth-placed Stranraer.

Notably, the suspension comes just a day after the club confirmed contract extensions for defender Miko Virtanen and midfielder Brian Cameron, while also announcing the departure of goalkeeper Thomas McHale to Nairn County after an eight-year tenure at Borough Briggs. Additionally, six other players have been released from their contracts.

Allan Hale, appointed on December 5, 2023, alongside his assistant Stefan Laird, successfully guided Elgin away from relegation, achieving a sixth-place finish by the season's end. The 38-year-old former Fraserburgh player has prior experience managing Huntly and Keith in the Highland League.
