Ed Brand, former coach at Chelsea, opened up about his remarkable 17-year journey with the club in an interview with Sky Sports. Having transitioned from player to coach, Brand expressed his desire to become a head coach, stating, "I want to be a head coach."

Starting as a player at just 10 years old, Brand captained the youth team and played for the reserves before injuries curtailed his career. His coaching accolades include leading FA Youth Cup winning teams and shaping future talents in English football. At 39, he aims to utilize his experiences at Chelsea to foster a winning football philosophy.

Brand emphasized the importance of flexibility in coaching, advocating for a style that prioritizes effective, winning football over possession alone. He stated, "I would not be happy if we had 73 percent of the ball and lost without creating anything." His approach combines high-intensity play with intelligent decision-making from players, reflecting the adaptability he nurtured during his Chelsea tenure.

During his time, he worked with notable players like Conor Gallagher, Reece James, and Marc Guehi, contributing to their versatility on the pitch. He also played a crucial role in managing Chelsea's loan players, focusing on their development through competitive pre-seasons.

Brand's brief stint at Swindon Town as an assistant coach further solidified his belief in his coaching abilities. He articulated the significance of hard work and communication in fostering a productive team environment.

Looking ahead, Brand is eager to embark on a new coaching project, emphasizing the need for clarity and prospects. He is ready to apply his extensive knowledge and experiences, stating, "I genuinely want to bounce out of bed looking forward to going into work." With a wealth of experience behind him, Brand is poised for the next chapter in his coaching career.
