Cardiff City head coach Brian Barry-Murphy has announced that centre-back Dylan Lawlor is unlikely to participate in Wales' upcoming Nations League matches against Portugal and Denmark next month.

The matches are scheduled as follows:

• Thursday, 24 September: Wales vs. Portugal in Lisbon
• Sunday, 27 September: Wales vs. Denmark in Copenhagen

Unfortunately, the 20-year-old Lawlor has not played since sustaining an injury during his last international duty in June. Barry-Murphy confirmed, "Dylan injured his knee in the game against Ghana, so he's not close to returning yet," following Cardiff's 2-2 draw with Sheffield United on Saturday.

While Barry-Murphy mentioned that Lawlor is making progress and has resumed jogging, he emphasized that the defender is still far from being match-ready. "It's impossible to say when he'll be back," he stated, reflecting the uncertainty surrounding Lawlor's recovery.

Earlier this year, Lawlor faced a similar setback, as he was sidelined for a month due to a medial ligament knee injury in early January. Having earned six caps for Wales, his absence will be felt as the national team prepares for critical matches.
