In an electrifying finish at the Omega European Masters, Thriston Lawrence emerged victorious after a gripping play-off against Paul Casey. Lawrence's stunning eight-under-par round allowed him to close a six-shot gap on Casey, forcing extra holes at Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club in Switzerland.

After leading the tournament for two rounds, Lawrence faced a setback with a disappointing three-over-par 73 on Saturday. However, he rebounded spectacularly on Sunday, posting eight birdies without a single bogey, setting the clubhouse target at 18 under.

Casey struggled initially, facing bogeys on the par-three third and eighth holes, plus a double bogey on the sixth after sending his shot out of bounds. Nevertheless, he rallied with five birdies, moving one shot ahead of Lawrence with three holes to play.

The drama peaked on the final hole when Casey's second shot bounced over the water, leaving him a challenging 20-foot putt for victory, which he missed. In the play-off, both players made pars at the first three holes, but Casey will rue missed opportunities, especially a 10-foot birdie putt at the second and an eight-footer at the third.

Lawrence expressed empathy for Casey, acknowledging his strong performance throughout the day. Harry Hall finished solo third with a seven-under-par final round, while five players shared fourth place, including Angel Hildagao, Angel Ayora, Eugenio Chacarra, Francesco Laporta, and Bernd Wiesberger.
