Inter Milan has finalized a £30m deal to acquire Djed Spence from Tottenham Hotspur. The agreement includes a 10 percent sell-on clause and allows Spence to travel to Italy for a medical following ongoing negotiations between the clubs.

Spence, who was instrumental in England's third-place finish at the 2023 World Cup, faced limited opportunities at Spurs next season. With Pedro Porro established as the first-choice right-back and competition from Destiny Udogie, Andy Robertson, Souza, and Ben Davies for left-back roles, a move became necessary.

Inter Milan sought a new right-wing-back, and after unsuccessful attempts to secure Moussa Diaby from Al Ittihad, they turned to Spence. The defender had three years remaining on his contract with Spurs, plus an option for an additional year, but expressed eagerness to join Inter after a successful loan stint at Genoa beginning in January 2024.

Tottenham originally signed Spence from Middlesbrough in July 2022 for up to £20m. In a heartfelt farewell on X, Spence reflected on his time at Spurs, stating:

A special chapter comes to an end. It's been some journey, with plenty of memories... but it's time for a new chapter.

As Spurs prepare for Spence's departure, they are already considering potential replacements. Sky Sports News’ Mark McAdam noted that while Spurs fans recognized Spence's potential, they might feel the transfer fee is modest for a player with his capabilities. Spurs remain proactive in their search for a suitable replacement.
