Daniel Dubois has issued a bold promise to defeat Fabio Wardley "in style this time" in their upcoming WBO heavyweight title rematch. The bout is set to take place at London’s O2 Arena on 17 October.

In their first encounter in May, Dubois faced a challenging start, suffering an early knockdown within the first 10 seconds and another heavy fall in the third round. However, he rallied to secure an 11th-round stoppage victory during Wardley’s inaugural title defense.

Following the fight, Wardley swiftly activated his rematch clause, setting the stage for a highly anticipated second meeting.

Dubois, who boasts a record of 23-3 (22 KOs) and is a former WBA ‘regular’ and IBF champion, expressed confidence in his preparation for the rematch. "I was coming off a defeat last time, so I was a bit nervous... It is just a fresh start for me now," Dubois stated at a launch press conference. He emphasized his improved training regimen and readiness for battle, saying, "I have got to put things right this time... and take him out in style."

He also mentioned that a victory over Wardley would open doors to greater opportunities in the competitive heavyweight division, asserting, "I only want to be the ‘last man standing’ and be up there with the greats."

On the other hand, Wardley, who finished their last bout bloodied and bruised, remains optimistic about his chances. He reflected on his previous mistakes, stating, "I felt like I was a victim of my own success... I will do all those things in this camp – and I will come through on top on the night with a knockout."
