Dani Olmo, the Spain midfielder, shares the profound impact of winning the World Cup with his team. In a heartfelt conversation at Barcelona’s Joan Gamper training ground, he recalls the emotional moment he realized they were champions after defeating Argentina on July 19 in New Jersey.

He describes a poignant memory of hugging Ferran Torres’s mother, both in tears, as they celebrated their historic achievement. Olmo emphasizes how this victory has transformed their lives, placing them among legends like Andrés Iniesta and Xavi.

Now, with the new European season on the horizon, Olmo reflects on returning to work. Just 23 days post-victory, he highlights the importance of leveraging their national success to fuel their club ambitions. With eight players from the Spain squad coming from Barcelona, Olmo believes their shared experiences can enhance both performances.

He acknowledges the struggles in the Champions League, where Barcelona has not lifted the trophy since 2015, and emphasizes the need for growth and learning from past failures. The team, featuring a youthful average age of 23.18, is eager to build on their recent successes, including a domestic treble.

Olmo discusses the differences in philosophy between the national team and Barcelona, explaining how both coaches, Hansi Flick and Luis de la Fuente, instill confidence and a winning mentality. He highlights the importance of adapting and learning from each match, particularly in high-stakes situations.

As the new season begins with a match against Feyenoord, Olmo expresses optimism about the future, especially with new signings like Rodri enhancing their squad. He believes that their shared experiences and ambitions can lead to renewed success, both domestically and in Europe. Olmo concludes with a playful nod to future celebrations, hinting at the joy that awaits if they achieve their goals.
