Despite the success of the event, Dana White, UFC president and CEO, faced a significant controversy due to comments made by heavyweight Josh Hokit following his second-round TKO victory over Derrick Lewis.

After the fight, Hokit grabbed the microphone and shouted, "Michelle Obama is a man. Am I right, America?" This comment drew immediate backlash, prompting White to express his disgust during an appearance on Ryan Clark's "The Pivot" podcast. He stated, "It's f---ing gross, right? It's inappropriate, the timing of it and everything."

White emphasized that Hokit's views do not reflect those of the UFC or its fighters, stating:

It's not the opinion of the UFC. It was a really unfortunate thing to happen that night.

He further elaborated on the significance of the event, which coincided with President Trump's 80th birthday, and criticized the disrespect shown to a former First Lady, wife, and mother. White described the night as a "grand slam home run" that was marred by Hokit’s remarks, labeling them as moronic.

Despite the controversy, White maintained that the overall event was a great success, but the incident was a regrettable blemish on an otherwise perfect occasion.
