Dalton Smith prepares to defend his WBC light-welterweight title for the first time against Alberto Puello on 24 October in his home city of Sheffield. The 29-year-old British fighter, aiming to maintain his undefeated record, will face the mandatory challenger in what marks his 20th professional bout.

Smith earned his championship title in January with a stunning stoppage of Subriel Matias in New York. The highly anticipated match against the Dominican former champion Puello was initially scheduled for June but faced postponement due to an injury Smith sustained during training.

Expressing his enthusiasm, Dalton remarked, "I'm delighted the fight is finally back on and that we'll be defending my WBC world title on October 24 in Sheffield. It was obviously frustrating to pick up the injury when I was in such a good place, especially after all the hard work that had gone into camp. But injuries are part of boxing. The important thing is that I've taken the time to recover properly, listened to the medical advice and now I'm back training, feeling strong and ready to go again."

In other boxing news, Ben Whittaker aims for a light-heavyweight title shot against Conor Wallace from Australia in an IBF eliminator on 3 October in Birmingham. After a successful debut in the US in June, the 29-year-old is eager to make a mark back home.

Additionally, Pat Brown is set to face John Hedges for the British and Commonwealth cruiserweight titles in Manchester on 19 September. At just 26, Brown has quickly made a name for himself, boasting a perfect record with all six wins coming by knockout.
