After three consecutive 12-win seasons, the Cowboys experienced a sharp decline, finishing with a 7-10 record in 2024 and yielding a league-worst 30.1 points per game in 2025. The departure of All-Pro edge rusher Micah Parsons and the firing of defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus marked a pivotal moment for the franchise.

In an unexpected move, owner Jerry Jones appointed Christian Parker, previously the Philadelphia Eagles' defensive backs coach, as the new defensive coordinator. At just 34 years old, Parker is the youngest in franchise history and is set to implement a 3-4 defensive scheme derived from the Vic Fangio coaching tree.
