The 56-year-old confirmed his decision at a press conference alongside Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis. Having joined the club in July 2024, Conte led Napoli to win the league title in both his debut season and the current one. His last match was decided by a 23rd-minute goal from striker Rasmus Højlund, securing a second-place finish in the league, just behind Inter.

Conte revealed he initiated the exit talks due to issues with the club’s owner. "I rang the chairman a month ago ... and told him: ‘Given the friendship we share, I feel that my time here is coming to an end.’ The decision was mine," he stated. He expressed dissatisfaction with the team's dynamics, especially following a loss to Bologna earlier this month, citing friction over January signings and internal relationships. "I saw too much poison, too much malice. The moment you can no longer do things with ease is a step backwards for me," Conte added.

Local media reported that Conte is a frontrunner for the Italy manager position. He expressed gratitude for his time at Napoli, stating, "There is satisfaction, honour and prestige in what I achieved coaching Naples."
