Conor Benn has made a bold statement ahead of his title fight against Ryan Garcia this weekend, declaring that he and his opponent are fundamentally different. The fight, scheduled for Saturday at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, marks Benn's first world-title challenge and Garcia's first title defense of the WBC welterweight championship.

Benn, 29, enters the ring with a record of 25-1 (14 KOs) after impressive victories over Regis Prograis and his rival Chris Eubank Jr. The latter match, a rematch from his only previous loss in April 2025, saw Benn triumph in November, followed by his win against Prograis in April.

In an interview with The Independent, Benn expressed his views on Garcia, stating:

"I’m not saying that I dislike [Garcia] or hate him… We’re just not the same. My pillars are very different to his."

Benn emphasizes his values of family, hard work, and taking the challenging path, contrasting them with what he perceives as Garcia's desire for an easy life. He stated:

"He’s one of these Gen Z kids, ‘kid-men’ who want an easy life. I’m just not wired that way. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion is my sort of mindset."

Before facing Garcia, Benn had aimed to fight other world champions like Shakur Stevenson and Devin Haney. He expressed his aspirations:

Garcia, 28, carries a record of 25-2 (20 KOs) and recently claimed the WBC title with a points victory over Mario Barrios. His past defeats include a loss to Rolly Romero and Gervonta Davis.
