After 10 days of intense competition across 10 sports, Australia emerged as the clear leader in the Glasgow 2026 medal standings, securing a remarkable 70 gold medals and an impressive 171 medals overall. This total surpasses the combined gold count of England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland by a staggering 16 medals.

England finished in second place with 29 gold medals, followed by Canada and India. Scotland, the host nation, secured fifth place with 13 golds, while Wales ranked ninth with nine golds, four of which were won by cyclist Emma Finucane. Northern Ireland landed in 12th position with three golds. Overall, 45 nations or territories out of 74 competed successfully for medals.

Australia's dominance was particularly evident in the swimming events, where they claimed a staggering 37 gold medals and a total of 76 medals. Meg Harris stood out in the pool, leading with six individual golds. The Australian team also topped the medal tables in athletics, track cycling, and 3x3 basketball.

Reflecting on the achievements, Sam Short, who secured four swimming golds, expressed, "We just really love the Commonwealth Games. That and the Olympics is what Australia seems to live for. We've just been flogging ourselves in training all year. This is the target. Representing the Green and Gold is a big honour."
