Double Commonwealth Games gold medallist Olivia Breen has been named captain of Team Wales for the upcoming Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow. At 29 years old, this will mark her fourth appearance at the Commonwealth Games, where she will lead a team of 115 athletes.

Breen's impressive track record includes:

• Gold medal in the T38 100m at Birmingham 2022
• Bronze medal in the same event at the Gold Coast 2018
• Gold medal in T38 long jump at the Gold Coast

Expressing her excitement, Breen stated, "It means so much. I can't wait to see Team Wales do everything to make everyone in Wales proud. Wales is a big part of me and I was team captain for the athletics team but obviously being captain for the whole Wales team, it's just mind blowing."

Breen has also earned two Paralympic bronze medals:

• T35-38 4x100m relay at London 2012
• T38 long jump at the Tokyo 2021 Games

Team Wales' Chef de Mission, Gethin Jones, praised Breen's selection as captain, emphasizing her positive influence on the team:

The Commonwealth Games will kick off on 23 July and run until 2 August, featuring athletes competing in 10 different sports. Team Wales will include 67 female and 48 male competitors, ranging in ages from 16 to 73 years old.
