After an emotional journey marked by tears in Paris and now in Glasgow, Adam Ramsay-Peaty finds himself at a crossroads in his swimming career. The English swimmer, who claimed the 100m breaststroke bronze at the Commonwealth Games, expressed deep frustration, stating, "I work a lot harder than what it says on the scoreboard."

Despite a storied career that includes three Olympic gold medals and eight world titles, Ramsay-Peaty struggles with the weight of expectations after a break from the sport due to mental health challenges in 2023. Coming into the final as the fastest qualifier, he ultimately settled for bronze, finishing behind Australia's Sam Williamson and Jersey's Filip Nowacki, the latter of whom he has mentored.

Reflecting on his performance, he noted:

It took a lot of courage to get back into the sport... but then that contradicts the athlete inside me. I just think I deserve more.

Ramsay-Peaty also highlighted the sacrifices that come with elite athletics, particularly the time spent away from his son, saying, "They are not even sacrifices; they are choices."

As he approaches what may be his last Commonwealth Games, he voiced frustration over not achieving the results he trained for, stating, "I could do better. I've been faster this season."

Looking ahead, he considers the future of his events, contemplating the viability of the 100m distance versus the less taxing 50m race, which he plans to compete in next. Despite the emotional toll, Ramsay-Peaty remains determined to aim for Olympic gold in Los Angeles 2028, stating, "I know I'm a sprinter... It requires me to look at the formula and see how I can get to that speed again."
