Cole Campbell, an 18-year-old forward, made headlines with his Bundesliga debut for Borussia Dortmund. After a challenging loan at Hoffenheim, he finally found his stride at Elversberg, celebrating his first full match with a goal in a thrilling 3-2 victory against Bayer Leverkusen. He continued to impress, contributing to a 4-3 win at Borussia Monchengladbach and narrowly missing another goal against Bayern Munich due to an offside call.

Reflecting on his journey, Campbell expressed his surprise at being part of Elversberg, a small club making its mark in the top division. He noted, "The expectation was actually quite the opposite of what we have already shown," emphasizing the team's dedication to fearless play against top-tier opponents.

With a strong bond among teammates, Campbell feels at home, likening Elversberg's atmosphere to his childhood in Iceland. He enjoys local culture, including coffee shops and schnitzel, while also embracing life in Germany and learning the language.

His multi-cultural background, with an Icelandic mother, has played a role in his development, both on and off the pitch. Campbell recently made his senior debut for the United States against Canada, firmly choosing to represent the U.S. over Iceland.

After a frustrating period at Hoffenheim, where he made only five appearances, Campbell sees his time there as character-building. He emphasizes the importance of faith in navigating the ups and downs of football, stating, "Trusting in the plan that God has for you... strengthened my mental toughness."

As Elversberg's record signing, Campbell acknowledges the pressure but feels supported by the club's trust in him. He is encouraged by the success of other players who have thrived at Elversberg and is determined to become "the best version" of himself under head coach Vincent Wagner. With newfound confidence and a clear path forward, Campbell is ready to seize his opportunity in the Bundesliga.
