Rangers are reportedly exploring an ambitious January loan move for Max Dowman, with Arsenal still evaluating the best next steps for one of the brightest young talents in English football.

At just 16 years old, Dowman has already become a part of Mikel Arteta’s senior squad, demonstrating his capability to handle first-team football.

Rangers are monitoring his situation closely, anticipating that Arsenal might decide that regular starts elsewhere could enhance his development.

Key points regarding the potential loan:

• Dowman could become available for a temporary move after turning 17 on December 31, making him eligible to leave Arsenal during the January transfer window.
• Rangers are among his strongest admirers and are keen on a deal if Arsenal allows discussions to take place.
• The Gunners expect Dowman to receive significant first-team minutes as the season progresses and have no immediate concerns about his current trajectory.

Dowman has already excited supporters, scoring twice on his first start of the season against Ipswich Town after making several senior appearances in his breakthrough campaign.

A loan to Rangers would undoubtedly provide valuable experience, exposing Dowman to the pressures and physicality of playing for one of Scotland’s biggest clubs, alongside the added challenge of European football.

However, there is a compelling argument for keeping him at Arsenal. Arteta previously stated that the club intends to keep Dowman within the senior squad, emphasizing the importance of meaningful minutes over a loan just because of his age.

Ultimately, if first-team opportunities diminish, a move to Rangers could present a compelling alternative for his ongoing development.
