According to TEAMtalk, Xhaka engaged in constructive discussions with Sunderland’s management and is now willing to continue his tenure at the Stadium of Light. The 33-year-old was previously linked with Chelsea, where a reunion with Xabi Alonso was viewed as a compelling opportunity.

However, the dynamics have shifted substantially in Sunderland’s favor. The Guardian reports that Xhaka has opted to remain with the Black Cats after Chelsea’s £8m bid was turned down. Sunderland firmly expressed their unwillingness to sell, especially after qualifying for the Europa League and establishing much of their midfield identity around Xhaka's expertise.
