Chelsea have made direct contact with Lamine Camara’s representatives as they aim to secure the AS Monaco midfielder ahead of Liverpool before the transfer window closes. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported on X that Chelsea intensified their pursuit of the 22-year-old Senegal international, who is reportedly receptive to joining the Blues.

Romano stated:

• “Chelsea have made contact with Lamine Camara’s camp and the 22-year-old midfielder would be open to joining #CFC.”
• This follows a direct meeting yesterday between AS Monaco and Chelsea to discuss a potential late deal.
• Camara is on Chelsea’s list as they await further developments.

This progression comes after a face-to-face meeting between Chelsea and Monaco officials, discussing the feasibility of a late transfer. Camara has emerged as a top target for Chelsea, especially as they consider a formal proposal before the deadline, particularly in light of Enzo Fernandez’s possible departure amid strong interest from Man City.

Liverpool faces a significant setback in the race for Camara, having been closely linked with the player as well. Andoni Iraola’s squad seeks to enhance their midfield, and Camara's energy, athleticism, and ability to operate under pressure make him an appealing option. However, Liverpool has yet to submit an official offer, leaving Chelsea with the upper hand.

Chelsea’s pursuit of Camara underscores the club’s ambitions under new manager Xabi Alonso, who has enjoyed a promising start with consecutive victories over Fulham in the Premier League and Luton Town in the League Cup. Despite having a robust midfield, Alonso may view Camara as a valuable addition to enhance physicality and defensive intensity, complementing Moises Caicedo effectively. With Camara’s reported openness to the move and Chelsea's proactive discussions with Monaco, the Blues now appear to have the momentum in this transfer race.
