Charles Oliveira has set his sights firmly on reclaiming the UFC lightweight championship. His ambition is so intense that he is willing to put his BMF title on the line against the current lightweight champion, Justin Gaethje.

In a recent interview with CBS Sports at UFC 329, Oliveira emphasized that he deserves a title shot, highlighting that only Arman Tsarukyan, who narrowly defeated him by split decision, has a stronger claim. Oliveira expressed his determination:

The next one in line to face Justin Gaethje for the title is Charles Oliveira. Everyone knows that's the fight to make.

He added, "I want that belt. I need it. Let's unify the belts. The champion takes everything."

Oliveira believes the version of himself that lost to Islam Makhachev at UFC 280 was not the true Oliveira. With Makhachev now competing in the welterweight division, Oliveira is focused on the upcoming UFC 330 event in Philadelphia on August 15, where his training partner Ian Machado Garry will challenge Makhachev for the welterweight title. Oliveira praised Garry's fight IQ and adherence to strategy, stating, "I believe he has a chance to do that [against Makhachev]."

While Oliveira is assisting Garry in preparation, he clarified that Garry's potential success would not serve as redemption for his own loss to Makhachev. He stated, "That's not an issue. That doesn't exist. I will be happy for Ian when he goes out there, gets the win, and gets the belt. It's his story. That's what you need to be happy for."
