The Champions League final will not be available for free viewing in the UK for the first time since its modern rebrand 34 years ago. This historic match features Arsenal facing Paris Saint-Germain in Budapest.

The rights holder, TNT Sports, has opted to charge fans to watch all three European finals, which has reportedly irritated Uefa. English clubs are eager for a clean sweep of titles, yet TNT Sports has decided against providing free access.

Upcoming finals include:

• Aston Villa vs. Freiburg in the Europa League final on Wednesday
• Crystal Palace vs. Rayo Vallecano in the Conference League final a week later
• Arsenal vs. Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final the following Saturday

TNT Sports holds the UK live rights for all three competitions but has restricted access to its customers and subscribers on the streaming platform HBO Max. New sign-ups can access the finals, with subscriptions starting at £4.99, while TNT Sports subscriptions cost £31.99 per month.

Historically, since BT Sport acquired Uefa rights in the 2015-16 season, finals were streamed live for free. Prior to this, ITV held exclusive rights from the competition's inception in 1992 until 2003, sharing with Sky Sports until 2015.

TNT Sports' decision has caused frustration at Uefa, which believes it violates a contract clause requiring "best endeavours" to ensure free availability for finals. As it stands, TNT Sports will lose rights to all three competitions by the 2027-28 season, having been outbid by Paramount and Sky Sports in last year's auction.
