Brentford is currently in discussions with Shakhtar Donetsk regarding the possibility of hosting their Champions League fixtures at the Gtech Community Stadium for the upcoming season.

Shakhtar Donetsk will directly enter the league phase of the 2026-27 Champions League after a change in qualification status. Originally, they had been set for the third qualifying round, but their move to the league phase came as a result of Paris St-Germain already securing a spot through their Ligue 1 victory.

Due to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, Shakhtar has been forced to play their European matches outside their home country. Last season, their home games were held in Ljubljana, Slovenia, and Krakow, Poland.

According to BBC Sport, conversations between Shakhtar and Brentford are ongoing, with the potential for the west London club to become the host for these matches. A Shakhtar official stated, "Shakhtar is currently negotiating with several venues in the United Kingdom and Germany in order to secure a host stadium for its UEFA Champions League matches next season. We will not comment on the process until a decision is announced in the near future."

Brentford's stadium meets UEFA's regulations for hosting Champions League matches, and it is believed that UEFA would have no objections, provided local authorities grant permission. Additionally, Brentford has a history of renting out their stadium for various events, including non-international friendly matches and tournaments, viewing this as an important revenue stream.
