Carlos Alcaraz has officially entered next month's Cincinnati Open, marking a significant step in his recovery from a wrist injury. The world number three has not competed since April, when he sustained the injury during the Barcelona Open.

Having withdrawn from both the French Open and Wimbledon, Alcaraz missed the opportunity to defend his Roland Garros title. His absence also extends to the upcoming Canadian Open, set to take place in Montreal from August 2-13.

Despite these setbacks, Alcaraz aims to participate in the Cincinnati Open, a crucial Masters event scheduled from August 13-23. At just 23 years old, he seeks to showcase his readiness for the US Open, the final Grand Slam of the year, where he is the reigning champion. Notably, Alcaraz is the defending champion at Cincinnati, having won the title last year when Jannik Sinner retired from their final due to illness.

Jannik Sinner, who has dominated the circuit with five Masters 1,000 titles this year, is also in the lineup for Montreal after his second consecutive victory at Wimbledon.

In contrast, English tennis star Emma Raducanu will not be competing in Cincinnati. She withdrew from Wimbledon due to a stress fracture in her lower leg and is currently working on regaining fitness for the US Open, which starts on August 30.

Meanwhile, Jack Draper will need to secure a wildcard for Cincinnati, whereas new British number one Arthur Fery has earned a spot in the tournament, achieving a career-high ranking of 36 following his impressive run to the Wimbledon semi-finals.
