Carl Froch predicts that a world title could be added to the highly anticipated Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua fight later this year, following the recent vacating of belts by Oleksandr Usyk.

Currently, Fury is set to face Mariusz Wach in Thailand, while Joshua prepares for a bout against Kristian Prenga in Saudi Arabia. If both fighters secure victories, they could meet in an all-British showdown, although the match is currently not scheduled as a title fight.

In June, Usyk vacated the WBC, WBA, and IBF titles, leading to several changes:

• Agit Kabayel was awarded the WBC belt.
• Murat Gassiev was elevated to official WBA champion.
• The IBF title remains vacant, with Daniel Dubois holding the WBO title.

Froch emphasized the significance of potentially adding the IBF belt to the Joshua vs Fury matchup, stating, "When respected members of the boxing media point out that there is nothing at stake, making it a vacant world-title fight corrects one of those problems."

He suggested that with a title on the line, the event would gain more traction, allowing one fighter to claim the title of two-time or three-time heavyweight champion.

Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, is expected to leverage his connections with governing bodies to facilitate this possibility.

Saudi matchmaker Turki Alalshikh has proposed that the fight could take place at Wembley Stadium in November, contingent on the main event starting at 2 am BST.

Joshua, 36, last fought in December, defeating Jake Paul, while Fury, 37, last competed in April, winning against Arslanbek Makhmudov. Both fighters have a storied history, with Joshua being a former two-time unified champion and Fury a former unified champion with a notable WBC title reign.
