Ireland captain Caelan Doris confirmed he will have his foot injury assessed after exiting early in Leinster's decisive 36-7 win over the Pretoria Bulls in the United Rugby Championship final.

Doris left the field just seven minutes into the match at Croke Park, despite having recovered from a previous knee injury sustained during the semi-final against the Stormers. His early departure raised concerns for Ireland coach Andy Farrell, especially with the Nations Championship opener against Australia looming in just two weeks.

In addition to Australia, Ireland is set to face Japan on 11 July and New Zealand the following week.

Doris was substituted by teammate Jack Conan, who contributed to the victory by scoring one of the five tries, helping Leinster secure back-to-back league titles over the Bulls.

When asked if the foot injury might impact his departure for Australia, he replied, "We'll see how it unfolds over the next 24 hours."
