Baker Mayfield's journey in the NFL has been anything but ordinary. Once the No. 1 overall pick for the Cleveland Browns, he was celebrated for leading the team to its first playoff victory since 1994. However, after being traded for a conditional fifth-round pick in 2022, Mayfield's career took a turn. Following stints with the Carolina Panthers and Los Angeles Rams, he has now found a new home with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, recently signing a three-year, $165 million contract extension.

As Mayfield prepares to face the Browns this Sunday, many expect him to bring a vengeful spirit. During a podcast appearance with Jarvis Landry and Leonard Fournette, he acknowledged the significance of this matchup, labeling it as the first home game that he circled on his calendar. "It's time to show them which home is better," he stated, indicating his competitive nature.

Despite the anticipation, when addressing the media, Mayfield refrained from providing any provocative comments aimed at his former team. He emphasized the importance of focusing on his performance rather than dwelling on past grievances. "You want to come out on the winning side of that, no matter what," he said, reflecting on his time in Cleveland.

Interestingly, Mayfield noted that the positive memories from his time with the Browns outweigh the negative ones. He reminisced about key moments, including the playoff win, while acknowledging the changes within the organization since his departure.

With Kevin Stefanski no longer coaching in Cleveland and a new staff in place, Mayfield is prepared to face his former team, albeit with a calm demeanor. As kickoff approaches, the excitement builds around this intriguing matchup.
