Bruno Fernandes has stirred controversy following Manchester United's dismal 4-1 defeat to Como in the Champions League. The captain's public questioning of manager Michael Carrick's tactics has drawn sharp criticism from fans and pundits alike.

In an interview with TNT Sports, Fernandes stated, "It's a decision from the staff to not press man-to-man... when you give too much the ball to these teams they get confidence." He further shifted blame, saying, "That's on the manager and staff to see it, not me."

Jamie Carragher, a former Liverpool vice-captain, condemned Fernandes' actions, labeling them as an embarrassment. He argued that the midfielder's antics on the pitch hinder the team's efforts, stating, "Watching him throw his arms up every week in a game is an absolute disgrace."

The scrutiny intensified after Lisandro Martinez similarly expressed discontent following a previous defeat, sparking debates over player accountability. With United failing to secure a win in their last seven matches, Carrick responded, emphasizing the need for effort regardless of tactics.

Other former players, including Kasper Schmeichel and Stephen Warnock, criticized Fernandes for airing grievances publicly, suggesting such matters should be handled internally. Joe Cole deemed it "sacrilege" for a captain to question managerial decisions openly.

Despite his impressive statistics since joining the club, Fernandes' leadership qualities have come under fire. He was previously criticized for his behavior during significant losses, leading to calls for his captaincy to be reconsidered. As the situation unfolds, fans are left questioning his future role, especially ahead of the upcoming match against Bournemouth. No official statement has been made regarding the implications of his comments on his captaincy.
