Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton have expressed concerns that the upcoming British Grand Prix will present a fundamentally altered experience due to new regulations impacting power deployment on the high-speed Silverstone circuit. Both drivers echoed sentiments previously shared by Max Verstappen, emphasizing that the race will be challenging under the new energy management rules.

Traditionally celebrated for its thrilling straights and corners, Silverstone is now deemed an “energy-starved” track. The absence of heavy braking zones limits opportunities for drivers to recharge their cars' batteries, which will likely lead to a significant drop in power throughout the race.

“I think this is going to be an unprecedented weekend in terms of the power deployment,” stated Hamilton. He noted that drivers have been discussing their concerns, particularly regarding the limited opportunities to recharge, stating that the MGU-K will be inactive for much of the lap. This change is expected to particularly disadvantage Ferrari.

Hamilton elaborated, saying, “We start losing deployment going into Copse... this year the engine will be coasting down.” He anticipates that the high-speed sections, including Maggotts and Becketts, will require drivers to lift and coast, altering their racing experience.

Norris, who won at Silverstone in 2025, also shared his views, indicating that the track will feel less challenging compared to previous years. He remarked, “Copse will certainly not be quite the same challenge it was,” highlighting the adjustments drivers must make.

In addition to discussing the race, Norris addressed speculation regarding Verstappen potentially joining him at McLaren, asserting his confidence in competing against any driver, including Verstappen, Hamilton, or Fernando Alonso. He stated, “I believe I can beat any driver,” emphasizing the importance of consistency throughout the season.
