Lewis Hamilton has emphasized that the British Grand Prix track at Silverstone will be "a completely different circuit" due to the new car models expected in 2026. Known for its demanding high-speed corners, the track will face challenges this year as drivers struggle with energy deployment, resulting in only half the engines' full power being utilized at critical points.

Hamilton noted, "The fact we have long straights makes it an unprecedented weekend in terms of power deployment. All the drivers have been discussing how poor the power is going to be." He highlighted the difficulties drivers will encounter while recovering energy through the track's most challenging sections, Copse and Becketts.

Key points include:

• The current engine setup features a near 50-50 split between internal combustion and electrical power, with 350kW from electricity and slightly over 400kW from the engine.
• Drivers may need to downshift more frequently to maintain higher revs, particularly entering Copse.
• Hamilton expressed concern that the track's best sections will feel different due to power limitations, saying, "Maggots and Becketts will not feel the same, because you have to lift and coast."

Fernando Alonso, driving for Aston Martin, echoed Hamilton’s sentiments, stating, "With no deployment at all, we cannot forget that this year we have significantly less power than last year."

Conversely, George Russell, the recent winner in Austria, suggested that these challenges might lead to more exciting racing. He noted that while many fans may not recognize the changes, the dynamics on track could shift significantly.

The FIA's decision to restrict straight-line mode for safety reasons has also sparked controversy, with Russell pointing out that five of the eleven teams voted against reinstating it. F1 is already planning changes to the power ratio over the next two seasons to address these issues.
