Charlotte Henrich made history by breaking a 44-year Welsh record while winning bronze in the 400m at the British Athletics Championships held in Birmingham. The 19-year-old clocked a personal best of 50.58 seconds, surpassing Michelle Scutt's long-standing record from 1982. Henrich expressed her joy, stating, "I feel really happy, it's always nice to get a PB... I'm just over the moon."

Amber Anning took home the gold medal in the event, while Wales' fastest man, Jeremiah Azu, had been a strong contender. Azu secured his spot in the 200m final by winning his heat in 20.80 seconds, but he withdrew ahead of the upcoming Diamond League in Paris. His younger brother, Alex Azu, stepped in but finished sixth.

Disappointment struck for Hannah Brier, who missed qualifying for the 200m final after finishing third in her semi-final.

The first medal of the day was claimed by Bethan Davies, who won her eighth UK title in the 5000m race walk, marking her first victory since giving birth in 2024. Davies shared, "It's really special to become champion again... I've been working really hard to come back."

Guy Thomas won silver in the men's race walk, while Issy Boffey shone in the 800m, securing silver and qualifying for the European Championships. Boffey noted, "This is the best I've ever done at the British champs... it's going to be great."

In the men's 1500m, Jake Heyward finished second behind Arlo Ludewick with a time of 3:38.97. Heyward reflected on his performance, noting the significance of his return after surgery on both his Achilles.

In field events, Hannah Lake earned silver in the high jump with a height of 1.78m, while Thomas Walley also claimed silver in the men's pole vault, clearing 5.30m. Walley expressed his happiness, saying, "This is my first silver, I've had three bronzes... I'm really happy."
