Britain’s Amy Hunt captured gold in the women’s 100m at the European Athletics Championships held in Birmingham, showcasing her prowess with a winning time of 11.00 seconds. The 24-year-old athlete, who recently earned a silver medal in the 200m at the Tokyo Olympics and won gold in the 100m at the Commonwealth Games, overcame a sluggish start to claim victory, finishing just ahead of Ewa Swoboda of Poland (silver, 11.02) and Delphine Nkansa of Belgium (bronze, 11.06).

In addition to Hunt’s triumph, Great Britain’s mixed 4x400m relay team secured a commendable silver medal, finishing behind Norway, who set a championship record of 3:09.62. The British team comprised Ben Jeffries, Charlotte Henrich, Toby Harries, and Yemi Mary John, each delivering strong performances despite Norway’s impressive lineup, which included world record-holder Karsten Warholm.

Max Burgin, recovering from a virus, won his 800m heat in 1:45.80, expressing relief at regaining his form. Ben Pattison also advanced as a non-automatic qualifier, finishing fourth in his heat.

In other events, Archie Yeo qualified for the men’s long jump final with a leap of 7.92m, while Lina Nielsen breezed through her 400m hurdles heat in 55.08 seconds, aiming for a strong semi-final performance.
