Brentford has made a significant addition to their squad by signing former England striker Callum Wilson on a 12-month contract. Wilson, who recently became a free agent after leaving West Ham United following the club’s relegation from the Premier League, brings a wealth of experience to the Bees.

The 34-year-old's signing follows the arrival of Jaidon Anthony from Burnley, enhancing Brentford's attacking options. Bees boss Keith Andrews praised Wilson as a "really good signing" with the "nous to score goals" and valuable experience to share around the training ground.

Wilson's arrival provides crucial competition for Brazilian international Igor Thiago, whom the club has emphasized is not for sale, despite speculation of offers around £80m or £90m. Andrews highlighted Wilson’s pedigree:

With a rich history in the Premier League, Wilson has played for West Ham, Newcastle United, and Bournemouth, and boasts nine caps for England from 2018 to 2023, scoring twice and participating in the 2022 World Cup. Last season, he netted seven goals in 32 appearances for West Ham. Additionally, Wilson was rumored to be considering a move back to his boyhood club Coventry City, who recently celebrated their promotion back to the top flight after a 25-year absence.
