A tragic incident unfolded at the PCA British Finals when Mateusz Chmura, a 33-year-old bodybuilder from Wakefield, collapsed on stage during the Classic Bodybuilding Medium event on October 18. Just a day before his 34th birthday, Chmura's sudden collapse shocked both competitors and spectators alike.

Paramedics, local ambulance staff, and the Midlands Air Ambulance crew rushed to his aid, but despite their efforts, he later succumbed to his condition at the hospital. The Physical Culture Association (PCA) expressed their sorrow in a statement, offering condolences to Chmura's wife, family, and friends.

The PCA temporarily halted the competition as medical treatment was administered and resumed after discussions with the remaining athletes.

Chmura had made his bodybuilding debut just two weeks prior, finishing second in the PCA First Timers show in Yorkshire on October 4. His wife, Patrycja Chmura, issued a statement on his Instagram, warning the public about an unauthorized online fundraiser claiming to collect money for their family. She clarified her lack of association with the campaign, urging people not to donate.

Patrycja expressed her gratitude for the support while emphasizing the pain she is experiencing. The couple had been married only two months prior and had trained together less than 48 hours before his tragic collapse. As of now, no official cause of death has been determined.
