Bill Belichick recently made headlines by attending the New York Giants' 40th anniversary celebration of their first Super Bowl-winning team, while notably absent from the New England Patriots' 25th-anniversary event for the 2001 Super Bowl team. This absence raised eyebrows, especially as Tom Brady, the former Patriots quarterback, was also missing due to his broadcasting duties in Seattle.

Belichick’s absence is attributed to his current commitments as the head coach of North Carolina, but his choice to attend the Giants' celebration instead has sparked speculation about his relationship with the Patriots.

There are two main theories regarding his absence:

• Busy Schedule: Belichick might genuinely be preoccupied with coaching duties.
• Lingering Resentment: His departure from the Patriots has been characterized by ongoing tensions, particularly following his forced exit after the 2023 season.

In past comments, Belichick has indicated that he feels unwelcome at Patriots facilities, stating, "It's clear I'm not welcome there at their facility. So they're not welcome at ours." This sentiment points to a deteriorating relationship with owner Robert Kraft, who has also made remarks about their split, suggesting a mutual parting, which many believe was not the case.

Despite the current strain, Belichick and Kraft enjoyed a historic partnership, culminating in six Super Bowl victories and numerous other accolades during their 23 seasons together.

The 2001 Patriots, who started their dynasty with an 11-5 record, are remembered for their remarkable playoff run, culminating in a 20-17 upset win over the St. Louis Rams in Super Bowl XXXVI. The celebration of this team's legacy took place during halftime of the Patriots’ game against the Las Vegas Raiders, where fans showed their appreciation.

Although Belichick missed this event, future anniversaries, like that of the 2003 team in 2028, may provide him with another chance to reconnect with the franchise.
