North Carolina coach Bill Belichick addressed the media on Monday, amid rising concerns over his program's off-the-field issues, including the recent resignation of Michael Lombardi, the general manager, and the indefinite medical leave of his son, Steve Belichick, the defensive coordinator.

Lombardi's resignation occurred during an active investigation into a human resources complaint from a former employee. He had been placed on administrative leave since July 27. Reports indicate that the investigation is looking into both Lombardi and Steve Belichick, who is allegedly being questioned regarding drug-related issues and his interactions with players.

During the press conference, the first nine questions directed at Belichick revolved around these controversies. He acknowledged having spoken to Lombardi since his departure but chose to keep those discussions private.

Belichick stated, "My focus is on getting the team ready to play ETSU. I'm not involved in any other part of the process."

When pressed about the atmosphere within the Tar Heels' football program, he confidently replied, "Yeah, totally," affirming a sense of compliance. The team recently celebrated a victory over TCU in Ireland before facing these distractions during their bye week.

Belichick emphasized his commitment to running the program correctly, noting, "In the end, we want to run the program in the very best way, and if there's things we need to do to correct it, we'll obviously do them."

He acknowledged the significance of the ongoing investigation and reiterated the importance of maintaining high standards for player care and coaching. Currently, Belichick is in the second season of a five-year, $50 million contract, which includes obligations to promote compliance and maintain control over the program.
