Ben Stokes has firmly ruled out a return to international cricket, particularly for next year’s Ashes, stating he is “done” with his career. The announcement follows England's disappointing series defeat against New Zealand at Trent Bridge, where Stokes made the decision to retire mid-match.

The 35-year-old all-rounder leaves behind a remarkable legacy, having scored 14 hundreds and taken over 250 wickets in 122 Tests for England. He has captained the team for the past four years, but noted on Sunday that he felt he had run out of “fight.”

Despite speculation from former captain Michael Vaughan about a potential return for the 2027 Ashes, Stokes has made it clear he is looking forward to stepping away from the international scene.

In his own words, Stokes expressed, “I am incredibly content with everything right now... It has taken a lot of time. I am done. I am very happy.” He acknowledged the curiosity surrounding his decision but emphasized that it was made with his best interests in mind.
