The Sacramento Kings are bringing former No. 1 pick Ben Simmons on board with a one-year, $3.5 million deal, as reported by ESPN. After missing the entire last season due to ongoing back and leg injuries, Simmons is making a significant push for an NBA comeback.

At 30 years old, Simmons has expressed his desire to return to the court, recently participating in a player-led minicamp for the Australian national team—his first involvement since 2013. His last NBA appearance was during the 2024-25 season, where he played 51 games for the Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Clippers, averaging 5.0 points, 5.6 assists, and 4.7 rebounds.

Sacramento has shown interest in Simmons since 2022, initially exploring a trade for him before acquiring Domantas Sabonis. Other teams, including the New York Knicks and Golden State Warriors, also considered signing him before he ultimately chose the Kings.

The Kings are taking a calculated risk with Simmons, similar to last year's late signing of Russell Westbrook. With rookie Darius Acuff Jr. expected to start, the depth at the point guard position is limited, making Simmons a valuable addition.
