Red Bull Racing has decided to return to a conventional rear wing for the upcoming Belgian Grand Prix. This decision follows a series of high-speed crashes involving Max Verstappen during the previous two races.

The confirmation came from Red Bull team principal Laurent Mekies, who disclosed to BBC Sport that the team identified a problem with their innovative wing design during recent tests after the Silverstone race.

Key points regarding this change include:

• The team will use a wing that opens for straight-line mode in a standard fashion.
• The previous design, which was pioneering, allowed the rear wing's top flap to rotate more than 180 degrees, enhancing drag reduction and increasing straight-line speed.
• Verstappen's crashes, one at the British Grand Prix and another during qualifying in Austria, were linked to issues with how the wing closed when entering high-speed corners.
