This victory comes after Russell faced challenges in previous races, including a difficult outing in Monaco where he fell 68 points behind championship leader Kimi Antonelli.

Kimi Antonelli, driving for Mercedes, could only manage third place despite his dominance in the season. Lando Norris from McLaren qualified fourth, followed by Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing and Isack Hadjar. Notably, Hamilton's teammate Charles Leclerc suffered a setback by crashing on his first lap in the final session, placing him in the 10th position.

Russell expressed his relief and excitement, stating, "It was nice to feel the groove again" after failing to score points in the last two races.
