Atlético de Madrid CEO Miguel Ángel Gil Marín has firmly stated that the club will not sell Julián Alvarez at any price, even if FC Barcelona offers €200 million. This declaration comes just before Alvarez and Argentina face Spain in the FIFA World Cup final.

In a recent interview on Atlético’s official YouTube channel, Gil confirmed that the club had already rejected a €100 million bid. He emphasized that any offers of €150 million or €200 million would be met with the same response, asserting that Alvarez is viewed as the ideal centre-forward for their future.

Gil also addressed Barcelona president Joan Laporta, who had expressed interest in Alvarez from New York. He suggested that Laporta should stop pursuing the player, implying that the Barcelona president enjoys the media attention generated by the saga. Gil's comments framed Atlético's position as resolute amidst ongoing pressure from Barcelona as the summer transfer window progresses.

Furthermore, Gil criticized Fernando Hidalgo, Alvarez’s agent, for allegedly misadvising the player since the end of the season. The timing of Alvarez’s public transfer request coincided with Lionel Messi breaking the World Cup goals record, leading to backlash in both Argentina and Spain. While Gil criticized the agent, he expressed confidence in Alvarez's professionalism and character.

Additionally, Arsenal has shown interest in Alvarez, but Gil's message applied to all potential suitors. Atlético’s transfer strategy this summer assumes that Alvarez will remain part of the squad, with alternative options being explored simultaneously.
