Ashley Williams and Alan Sheehan have officially joined Craig Bellamy's backroom staff as assistant coaches ahead of Wales' Nations League campaign.

Ashley Williams, a former captain of the national team, boasts an impressive record of 86 caps and led Wales during their unforgettable journey to the Euro 2016 semi-final. At 42 years old, he holds a Uefa A Licence and has recently gained experience coaching at various Wales age group camps. This marks his first senior coaching position.

On the other hand, Alan Sheehan, aged 39, comes with a wealth of experience, having previously managed Swansea City until he was sacked in November 2025. His coaching background includes roles at Swansea, Southampton, and Luton Town.

Their appointments follow the departure of James Rowberry, who stepped down from the coaching staff due to commitments with Stoke City. Additionally, Piet Cremers left in July to take the head coach position at Club NXT, the youth academy of Club Brugge.

Andrew Crofts, another former Wales international, continues in his role as assistant coach after his recent appointment at Tottenham Hotspur.

Wales is set to begin their Nations League A campaign in Portugal on Thursday, 24 September and will face Denmark in Copenhagen on Sunday, 27 September. Bellamy is expected to announce his squad on Tuesday, 15 September.
