Arsenal remains a contender in the pursuit of Julian Alvarez, the Atletico Madrid striker, as reported by Ben Jacobs. The Argentina international has excelled at Atletico, previously showcasing his skills in the Premier League with Manchester City as a squad player.

Despite bringing in Viktor Gyokeres last summer, questions linger regarding his performance at the Emirates Stadium, leading many fans to view Alvarez as a significant upgrade.

Jacobs emphasized the complexities surrounding Alvarez’s transfer, stating:

Jacobs noted, “Even if it was in & around €150m under set provisions, you’ve got to pay the taxes as well—which is why nobody is really looking at triggering the release clause.”

He added that Andrea Berta, who facilitated Alvarez’s move to Atletico, understands the intricacies of this potential deal.

While it’s uncertain if Alvarez will stay at Atletico or if Barcelona will make another attempt, Jacobs insists that Arsenal shouldn’t be ruled out. “If there’s a 1% chance of Alvarez moving to the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal will move.”
